Alaa Badarneh

Palestinian Territory

Born in Palestine in 1971, Alaa fell in love with photography during his childhood while helping his father in the family’s studio. Before Alaa joined epa in March 2003, he worked for various international outlets as well as Palestinian daily newspapers and local radio stations. Alaa has covered the Mideast conflict, general news stories in the West Bank and many other daily life events and features in the Palestinian Territories. Alaa teaches photo-journalism at Birzeit University and has received several international and Arab awards in press photography, including the Arab Journalism Award, the Al-Sharqa Photography Award, the Qattan Journalism Prize and Tom Hurndall Prize.
