Bagus was born in 1970 in Batang, Indonesia and completed his studies in journalism at Jakarta’s Social and Political Sciences Institute (IISIP). He has been working for epa since November 2003 after starting his career in 1997 as a news photographer for a local weekly newspaper. Since joining epa, he has covered major events such as the 2004 tsunami disaster in Aceh, Indonesia, multiple major earthquakes in Indonesia, several APEC & G8 summits, and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in 2014. Bagus has a broad experience in visual journalism from breaking news to economy, sports, politics, features, and entertainment.
