epa09900356 (18/31) Newly patched CMA member 'Hippo' (R) has his Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) patch stuck to the back of his motorcycle jacket after just being given it during the annual CMA South Africa National Rally at their church in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, 16 April 2022 (issued 21 April 2022). Like other MC (Motorcycle Clubs), riders must ride and live the CMA lifestyle before being given their backpatch or 'colors'. The backpatch stems from post WW2 soldiers returning to civilian life and starting Motorcycle Clubs (MC) and using their military back insignia as inspiration for modern day Motorcycle Club patches. Approximately 600 CMA members from all over South Africa converged on the church for their annual national rally.
