Xinhua and EPA Images have extended their cooperation with the signing of a new agreement for the distribution of Xinhua’s production via the EPA platform.
Thanks to the agreement, EPA customers will have access to photo and video coverage of Chinese news topics provided by Xinhua through their extensive journalistic network in China.
The new contract was signed by EPA's President and CEO, Julia R. Arévalo and the Director-General of Xinhua News Agency European Regional Bureau, Li Shengjiang. This deal enhances the partnership between the two agencies that started in October 2010 when EPA and Xinhua signed their first agreement to distribute EPA photography to the Chinese market.
"The new epaimages.com provides the perfect platform for the distribution of partners' content that complements EPA Images own production," said Julia R. Arévalo, EPA's President and CEO. "We are happy to have Xinhua as the first international partner joining our new platform.”
Founded in 1931, Xinhua is the official news agency of the People's Republic of China and is one of the world’s leading media outlets.
The European Pressphoto Agency B.V., recently rebranded as EPA Images, was founded in 1985. The vision of the founders was driven by the demand for an independent quality world picture service originally designed for the needs of the European media market. In early 2003, EPA made its service available worldwide, beginning its global operations. In 2015, EPA launched its global video service. Today's EPA photo and video service is based on the broad network of EPA's visual journalists all over the world and on the daily production of its member agencies ANA-MPA, ANP, ANSA, EFE, KEYSTONE, Lusa, MIT and PAP, which are all market leaders in their respective countries.
